IMMIGRATION SERVICES · LIMITED SCOPE
FAQ
Immigration services for individuals and law firms: defined attorney engagements, supervised paralegal preparation and restricted clerical help. Compare the deliverable and professional responsibility before making an inquiry.
Well-Pleaded Group LLC operates a technology marketplace, not a law firm. Legal advice may be provided only by a separately engaged, authorized independent attorney.
The answers below explain the platform's service boundaries. Your independent attorney's written agreement controls the legal work that attorney accepts. For government rules, also verify the current official agency instructions.
What is Well-Pleaded?
Well-Pleaded is an independent marketplace for defined immigration-related document tasks. It helps consumers explore limited-scope services available through independent attorneys and enables lawyers to outsource particular document-preparation assignments. It also includes a reference library of government forms and may make narrowly permitted self-directed technical services available after legal approval. It is not a law firm.
Will Well-Pleaded be my immigration lawyer?
No. The operator does not provide legal advice or representation. If an attorney accepts your request, that attorney identifies themself and makes a separate agreement with you covering the defined legal work. The marketplace supplies the transaction and document workspace, subject to its own terms.
What does limited-scope legal service mean?
It means the lawyer and client agree in writing that the lawyer will perform particular work, such as answering a defined question, identifying forms for a limited purpose or reviewing a specific application. The limitation must be appropriate to the circumstances. A limited engagement does not automatically include later notices, full proceedings, hearings or all related legal issues.
Can I use the same attorney for full representation later?
You may discuss additional services directly with the attorney. Any full retainer or continuing representation is separate from the marketplace and is not arranged or managed by Well-Pleaded. A completed task does not automatically become broader representation.
Does the attorney have to accept my matter?
No. The attorney must decide whether they have the necessary authority and competence, whether a conflict or other restriction exists and whether the requested work can responsibly be limited. The attorney can decline a request or propose a different scope. Submitting an inquiry does not establish representation.
Who decides which immigration form I should file?
When the answer requires applying immigration law to your circumstances, that is for an authorized legal professional in an agreed engagement. Well-Pleaded, its form search and independent document preparers do not decide your eligibility or choose forms for you.
I already know the form number. Can I just order someone to type it?
You can browse information about the form in the library. Whether paid clerical completion is available depends on the exact form, activity, federal and state rules, disclosure requirements and permitted compensation. An option will appear only if that specific service has been approved. The person performing technical work cannot give legal advice.
Is a paralegal an attorney?
No. A paralegal is not a lawyer and does not independently provide legal advice to the public. In attorney-led work, a paralegal performs delegated tasks under the lawyer's supervision. The profile and task record should identify the supervising attorney. A separate technical worker in a client self-directed lane must not be presented as an independent legal adviser.
Can a paralegal ask me for a passport or supporting records?
In an attorney-led engagement, an attorney may authorize narrowly defined factual requests through a controlled channel after the proper agreements and permissions are in place. Workers receive only the information needed for their assignment and cannot give legal advice. Do not send sensitive documents through a public inquiry form.
Will my form be signed or filed automatically?
No. Preparation, attorney review, factual approval, legal signatures and actual filing are distinct acts. Your service description will say who is responsible for each one. A prepared PDF or internal ‘approved’ status does not prove an agency accepted a filing. Electronic signatures are used only where the receiving authority permits them.
Does the platform file documents with USCIS or the immigration court?
Only if a specific filing service is separately described, legally permitted and technically operational. Otherwise, the service is document preparation and an authorized export or handoff. Government filing fees and agency rules are separate from the platform's services. Never treat download as proof of submission.
What about bond hearings and removal proceedings?
An attorney may consider an appropriately limited document-only task, such as reviewing a particular packet or directing an exhibit compilation. The marketplace does not sell attendance at hearings, a guaranteed bond result, general litigation control or preparation of an entire contested case. The attorney decides whether a requested limited task is legally and professionally appropriate.
Can I request assistance with a visa?
You can explore document-related services and, where available, request attorney advice about a defined legal question. Administrative specialists may assist with permitted logistical and factual tasks only. They do not select immigration categories, assess inadmissibility or recommend legal strategy.
Are the government forms in the library official?
The library identifies the issuing agency and links to official pages. For some forms, an on-site preview of the officially sourced PDF may be available after the edition is verified and display is permitted. Agencies change versions and instructions. Verify the current source and filing rules before use; the platform is not affiliated with or endorsed by the agency.
Are all 126 listed forms ready for automated filling?
No. A catalog entry means the form is referenced, not that the latest official edition is verified or that a validated filling template exists. Specific preparation capabilities are shown separately for each form and edition. If information is unverified, we will say so rather than present a stale file as current.
What if I already have my own attorney?
Your attorney may use the lawyer-focused workspace to commission a particular document task. Your existing retainer remains between you and your attorney. You do not automatically become a Well-Pleaded consumer, and the platform does not need to import or manage your entire case.
Who sees my documents?
Authorized users see only the specific cases, tasks and versions shared with them under applicable permissions. A contractor should not receive your entire file merely by joining a task. A preliminary invitation does not grant document access. The production system must establish access controls and security before accepting real confidential materials. See the Privacy Policy for applicable details.
Is information I enter before choosing an attorney privileged?
Do not assume a public inquiry to the marketplace creates an attorney-client relationship or professional privilege. Provide only a short, non-sensitive description initially. An attorney receives detailed confidential materials only after the relevant professional and privacy steps are completed; applicable legal protections depend on the circumstances and governing law.
Can the AI assistant give me legal advice?
No. The platform's assistant is for navigation and general administrative information, not determining eligibility or immigration strategy. AI suggestions to staff must be checked by a human and cannot automatically approve, sign, file or release a legal document. Do not put sensitive records into a public AI chat.
How will I know the cost?
You will see the proposed provider, scope, fees and separate third-party or government charges before accepting the applicable agreement. Where pricing is not yet authorized or configured, the site should offer a request-for-quote or waitlist rather than display an invented fixed price. Refund and cancellation terms are supplied before commitment.
Is Well-Pleaded connected to USCIS, EOIR or the Department of State?
No government endorsement or affiliation is claimed. The library can refer to official agency sources. A government submission is described as completed only when the authorized process is actually performed and supported by evidence.
What happens if my issue is too complex for this service?
An independent attorney may determine that a limited engagement is unsuitable and decline it or propose a different engagement outside Well-Pleaded. The platform does not force the attorney to provide a fixed package when professional judgment requires more extensive work.
Who handles a complaint?
Contact platform support about billing, access or the operation of the marketplace. Questions about an attorney's advice, scope or professional services should be directed to the identified attorney and may also implicate relevant professional regulators. The platform's support team cannot revise a lawyer's independent legal advice.
Does opening a workspace mean the platform is watching all my deadlines?
No. A workspace helps organize a specific task. The platform does not become your attorney, maintain a complete docket or assume responsibility for every notice or filing date. Any deadline included in a task must identify its source and the person responsible for it.
